Daniel Steinberg is a podcaster, author, editor, trainer, and developer at Dim Sum Thinking. He is the editor for the new series of Mac Developer titles for the Pragmatic Programmers. He writes feature articles for Apple's ADC web site and is a regular contributor to Mac Devcenter. He has presented at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference, MacWorld, MacHack and other Mac developer conferences. Daniel has produced podcasts for Apple featuring the work of developers and scientists working on the platform. He has coauthored books on Apple's Bonjour technology as well as on Java Programming and using Extreme Programming in Software Engineering classes.
Daniel spends as much time as possible hanging out with his wife and daughter, and misses Elena more than he could ever say.

Abstract: Loving your iPhone? Ever wonder how they do that beautiful animated UI? Of course! Developers love to take stuff apart and see how it works. Come to this talk and see how animation works on the iPhone. Core Animation is the tech behind these animated UI's. In this talk we will cover the big picture of how Core Animation works and then look at some code to see how to build your own elegantly animating user interfaces for the iPhone.

The iPad is a different type of device. It's not just a bigger
iPhone. In this session, you'll build on your experience creating
iPhone apps and see what's new about targeting the iPad. You will
leave this tutorial with some experience in using the new iPad
templates and working with the new iPad APIs. You'll see how
multitouch and view management are different on this larger display.
